Easton Lives
In these pictures I have tried to capture images of Easton from the point of view of its peoples’ personal histories.
This project was inspired by a location brief from the Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery. I chose six people from my small Easton neighbourhood and asked them where they had come from, why they had come here, and to ask which Bristol places were important to them, or significant in their history. I then took portraits of them in colour. I asked them about their lives; where they were born, where had they lived, and where, in Bristol, were special places for them. I then revisited these places and photographed them in black and white.
I feel privileged to have been able to share their lives and listen to their stories, and I only hope that I have been able to do them justice.
